3rd Ball kickoff 2013 Mardi Gras Season

So the new year is here and we are going to start off with a bang.
The Ball starts in a few short hours and I hope everyone is ready. With this coming year we are asking our members to become more active in the Krewe. Any idea , problems , criticisms, anything you think that will make the Krewe better in future I want to hear . So tonight lets have a great time , meet friends old and new and start the year off right! Happy Mardi Gras!!

Important!! Football packages!

I received an email from the company that did our 2010 Saints/Cowboys football
packages. These were very attractive packages with great seats. The hotel was at the foot of the French Quarters. I will be talking to him tomorrow and unless the Game is during the Christmas holidays I will start getting packages together. So let me know who is interested!!

It's a Saints home game. So it's going down in the Dome!!

Corking Fees

Big Purple Barney!!

It's also time to start working on Barney. Our float has gone thru the last year with flying colors. No major problems just a few nicks and dings. Between Feb. 1st and the 11th all of our updates and additions to the float will be done.Get in touch with Albert/Ginger or Arlander and we will put you to work. Also we will be hanging out and staging at the Civic Center on Mardi Gras day. Jackie and John will have their RV at the Civic Center. We will have a tent and instead of staging at the wrecker yard we will stage at the Civic Center . So no more frozen rides back to the yard ,we will load up and roll from one spot. Food , drinks .... it should be a good time.

Royal Gala is a celebration of The new year. All SWLA Mardi Gras will present their 2013 Royal Courts on Monday Feb 11th 2013 at the Lake Charles Civic Center. All are invited to attend. Our 2013 Royal Court will be presented . If any Krewe member would like their Child to be an attendant or banner holder please contact us. This years Theme is "Simplique celebrates Mardi Gras around the World". We are hoping to get the kids in some sort of Worldwide Costumes. If you have any ideas or would like to be involved , call me or Email us at KrewedelavieSimplique@gmail.com I also included a link of what last years Royal Gala looked like to give you a hint. By our 5th anniversary I would love for us to have a full blown presentation like some of the larger Krewes in the area. Enjoy!!

The season is off to a fast start. Last year's King and Queen were presented in style at the Lake Charles Civic Center during the 12th Night Celebrations. King Simplique 2012 Albert Lumpkins and His Queen Ginger Lumpkins dazzled the crowd on Sunday. 52 Krewes were presented at the celebrations and none were more excited than us!!!

Tuesday Feb 22, 2011.
What a Journey that it has been since January of last year. We have had a lot of starts and stops. We have had successes and failures on the long ride to this point , but we made it. Our ball is Thursday night and is poised to be a big success. Our float is nearly completed and will be amazing. Dwight , Keri and Nicole have done an incredible job getting us to this point. Now that the easy part is done here's the hard part , making sure that everyone has amazing experience this Mardi Gras season.The Weekend is full of events for the family. From the Gumbo cookoff Saturday morning to the Children's fair and parade on Sunday all the way into the Krewe of Krewe's parade Mardi Gras day.So that thousand step journey is nearly over and it's time to enjoy Mardi Gras 2011. See everyone on Thursday at the ball!

Getting Ready for Wednesday.............

It's Monday but all eyes are focused on Wednesday and Thursday.
First up Wednesday , everyone has directions to Center Circle rec if not I posted them in the previous post.We will have a packet ready for everyone. If you can't make it we can send you a copy and/or we can email you all the info.It looks like it will not rain on that day some we hope to get a good turnout. Even if the turnout is not huge remember that 50% of our members are probably at work and already have an idea of what they are going to do.
After our initial deposit we are going to have a meet and greet so our Members know who's in their Krewe. Hopefully at a bar or restaurant. Those arrangements will be made ASAP.
Thursday is paperwork day for me. All the paperwork that we have worked on for the state and federal governments will be sent off. So there's no turning back at that point.
I am excited and hope that everyone else is.
